Nuit Americaine

About shooting day for night
Day for night is the name of a technique in cinematography in which a crew films in a high contrast situation, typically at early morning or late afternoon, with a blue filter, causing the film to appear to have been shot in moonlight. It has been used in countless film scenes since the inception of film, so please feel free to post B/W images that achieve the look too. Color filters other than blue are also more than welcome, but please make sure that the technique is obvious. Cross Processing & Redscale techniques are also encouraged, as many of those shots achieve the day for night aesthetic.

The term may also refer to: La Nuit américaine, english title "Day for night", a 1973 movie — about filmmaking — by François Truffaut.
